Trump Faces Global and Domestic Setbacks After Anti-India Remarks
Since the day U.S. President Donald Trump began making threats against India, it seems his luck has taken a turn for the worse. He has been hit with a series of major setbacks, both internationally and at home. Prominent American experts are now criticizing Trump for his anti-India stance.
One such expert highlighted that India is the only country to have defeated Pakistan in just 88 hours during a war—yet Trump continues to stand by Pakistan. Many are now calling this a case of “karma,” as troubling news continues to mount for the Trump administration.
The first and most serious blow came from Russia. President Vladimir Putin has launched a strong verbal attack on Trump, escalating tensions between the U.S. and Russia. Following Trump’s criticism of Putin—accusing him of recklessly avoiding ceasefire talks with Ukraine—Russia responded with a dire warning. Putin declared that Trump’s rhetoric and aggressive posture could lead to a third world war.
Trump had accused Putin of playing with fire and even called him “insane.” In retaliation, Putin publicly challenged Trump and dismissed any immediate plans for a ceasefire, calling such moves dangerous for Russia. Reports suggest that Trump was covertly pressuring Ukrainian President Zelensky into agreeing to a ceasefire deal, which included granting the U.S. access to Ukraine’s mineral reserves in return.
Following Putin’s aggressive stance, Ukraine—allegedly at Trump’s behest—carried out attacks on Moscow’s airport and even targeted Putin’s helicopter. Several drones were also launched in an attempt to hit Putin’s aircraft. Had the attack succeeded, it could have resulted in Putin’s death. In response, Russia launched one of its most massive airstrikes against Ukraine and captured four more villages, expanding its control in the region.
Trump’s second blow came from an unexpected source—his ally, Elon Musk. The Tesla CEO announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he was stepping down from his role in the Trump administration as a Special Government Employee for the DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) mission. Musk thanked Trump for the opportunity but hinted at deeper discontent. Insider reports suggest Musk is unhappy with Trump’s extravagant spending, which he was originally appointed to help curb.
The third setback came from the U.S. judiciary. A federal trade court ruled against Trump’s attempt to impose new tariffs on imported goods. The court declared that Trump had overstepped the powers granted to him by law. The tariffs, announced on April 2, would have added a 10% tax on most imports, with even higher duties on goods from China and the European Union. Although Trump paused some tariffs to negotiate with other countries, the New York-based Court of International Trade concluded that he lacked the legal authority to enforce such sweeping changes unilaterally.
