Zelensky to Meet Trump in Washington Following Trump-Putin Summit

Just days after the historic meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced a major diplomatic move. On Saturday, Zelensky declared that he will travel to Washington, D.C., on Monday to meet with Trump, with the goal of discussing ways to end “murder and war” in Ukraine.

The announcement came after a phone call between the two leaders, during which Trump briefed Zelensky on the key takeaways from his conversation with Putin in Alaska.

Zelensky Confirms Visit on Social Media

Confirming the trip via a post on X (formerly Twitter), Zelensky wrote:
“On Monday, I will meet President Trump in Washington, D.C., to discuss all the details related to ending murder and war.”
He expressed his gratitude to Trump for the invitation.

Zelensky described the call as a “lengthy and meaningful conversation.” The upcoming meeting is scheduled just three days after Trump’s sit-down with Putin. However, the Alaska talks reportedly yielded no concrete progress toward a ceasefire or a resolution to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, which has dragged on for over three years.
