Tejashwi Yadav Signals Rahul Gandhi as INDIA Bloc’s PM Face for 2029, Slams Bihar Govt as “Broken Down

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday made a bold declaration that the opposition will unite in the next general election to make Congress MP Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister. His remarks serve as one of the clearest signals yet that the INDIA bloc is positioning Rahul Gandhi as its Prime Ministerial face for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

“In the next general election, we will work to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister,” Yadav said while leading a ‘Voters’ Rights Rally’ in Nawada, Bihar, in the presence of the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.

Yadav went on to urge that the younger generation should now get a chance to lead the state, taking a direct dig at the current NDA government in Bihar.

“The Nitish Kumar-led government has become a worn-out vehicle (‘khatara’) and must be replaced. The youth are determined to oust this old, dilapidated government and ensure Rahul Gandhi becomes the PM after the next Lok Sabha elections. We have a clear vision for Bihar,” he said.

BJP’s Reaction: “Far From Reality”

Responding to Yadav’s remarks, BJP MP Janardan Singh Sigriwal dismissed the statements, calling them unrealistic and symbolic rhetoric.

“This whole rally is happening because of the ongoing review of the electoral roll in Bihar. As soon as Rahul Gandhi arrived, Tejashwi was made CM in words. But does just saying it make it true?”
He added, “This is their art of political storytelling — or you can call it satire. Both claims (Tejashwi as CM and Rahul as PM) are far from reality.”

Tejashwi Calls Voter Roll Revision a “Plot to Steal Votes”

Tejashwi also criticized the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Bihar, calling it a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise voters, particularly those opposed to the ruling alliance.

“SIR is nothing but a vote heist. We will not allow this to happen. This is a conspiracy by the ruling party to rob voters of their rights,” Yadav asserted.

Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Rights March

These remarks came in the backdrop of Rahul Gandhi’s 16-day, 1,300 km ‘Voter Rights Yatra’, which he launched from Sasaram in Bihar’s Rohtas district on Sunday. The march is aimed at raising awareness about voter suppression and electoral fairness.

Taking aim at the Election Commission, Rahul Gandhi and opposition leaders alleged that the SIR was part of a broader plan to manipulate the electoral process in Bihar in favor of the ruling NDA.
