Smriti Irani Slams Opposition Over Alleged Remarks on PM Modi’s Late Mother During Bihar Rally
Former Union Minister Smriti Irani targeted the opposition over allegedly insulting remarks made about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during a public rally in Bihar. Irani said the comments were deeply hurtful to the entire nation, emphasizing that PM Modi’s mother had no connection with politics and had lived a life of struggle in poverty.
In a video message, the BJP leader said,
“The insult to the Prime Minister’s late mother by opposition leaders on a political platform in Bihar has hurt the entire country. The mother who had no ties to politics, who struggled in poverty to protect and support her family, and who is no longer with us—such an insult causes pain to all of us.”
Irani added,
“I am confident that the mothers and sisters of the nation, especially in Bihar, will give a fitting reply to this insult.”
Earlier, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha also criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav for allegedly making the remarks and not issuing an apology.
He told ANI:
“Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav have insulted the late mother of PM Modi. No one in their party feels any shame. No one has apologized. The INDIA alliance insults women.”
He further alleged that such negative statements are made to disturb Bihar’s social harmony and undermine development.
“These people have a demonic mindset. They have no concern for development or women’s empowerment.”
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary also condemned the comments, calling them a disgrace to democracy.
“We are pained that the Congress and Mahagathbandhan have insulted democracy like this. We can understand the pain the Prime Minister must be feeling.”
He added:
“There’s no bigger insult to democracy than a political party using abusive language against the Prime Minister’s mother. The entire state of Bihar stands with PM Modi.”
Meanwhile, the NDA has announced a statewide bandh in Bihar on September 4 to protest against the use of derogatory language against PM Modi and his late mother.
BJP Bihar State President Dilip Jaiswal said the shutdown will last from 7 AM to 12 noon.
Amid the controversy, Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra said:
“The public is furious with the opposition.”
