Indian Leaders Extend New Year Wishes, Hope for Peace, Prosperity, and National Progress in 2026
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted people on the occasion of the New Year, extending his best wishes for peace and well-being across society. President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed her New Year greetings to the people of India, praying that 2026 would usher in peace and prosperity for everyone. In a post written in Hindi on X, she described the New Year as a symbol of positivity and renewed energy, saying it would open up new opportunities for the nation. She emphasized the importance of collective commitment toward national development, social progress, and environmental protection. The President expressed confidence that 2026 would strengthen India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh joined in extending New Year wishes, expressing hope that 2026 would be marked by progress, harmony, and unwavering national pride. He said the year should deepen India’s shared resolve and renew dedication toward nation-building. In his message, Singh highlighted the importance of unity, innovation, self-reliance, and India’s civilizational values in strengthening the country’s security, prosperity, and global standing.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari also wished citizens a happy New Year, stating that he hoped 2026 would bring peace, development, and overall welfare for all.
Meanwhile, Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan shared his hopes that the New Year would fill every home with happiness and prosperity. He expressed a wish that 2026 would bring abundance, food security, joy, and well-being to households across the country.
