Major Update on Saudi Missile Attack: Indian Embassy Confirms No Indian Casualties
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has confirmed that no Indians were killed in the missile attack in Al-Kharj, Saudi Arabia, though one Indian citizen was injured. Saudi authorities also clarified that the fatalities were Bangladeshi nationals.
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh confirmed on Monday that no Indians were killed in the missile attack on a residential complex in Al-Kharj, Saudi Arabia. One Indian citizen was injured in the incident on Sunday and is currently receiving treatment at a government hospital in Al-Kharj. In a social media post, the embassy stated, “Thankfully, no Indian lives were lost in the unfortunate incident in Al-Kharj yesterday evening.”
The embassy said it is in contact with the relevant Saudi authorities regarding the matter. Community Welfare Counsellor Y. Sabir visited Al-Kharj on Sunday night and met the injured Indian citizen.
Earlier, Saudi authorities had reported that the missile strike on a residential complex housing employees of a maintenance and cleaning company had killed two people, initially suggesting that one of the victims was Indian. However, on Monday, the Saudi Civil Defense clarified via social media that both deceased were Bangladeshi nationals, 11 others injured were also Bangladeshi, and the injured Indian is receiving treatment.
The attack occurred amid heightened regional tensions after the US and Israel launched a joint military operation against Iran on February 28, following pressure from US President Donald Trump regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Iran’s retaliatory actions have since escalated conflict across the Gulf region.
