Saudi Forces Intercept Drone and Missile Attack Over Riyadh

The Saudi Ministry of Defense confirmed that its air-defense systems intercepted another drone that was attempting to approach the diplomatic district of Riyadh. The latest incident follows a series of aerial threats, with Saudi forces successfully shooting down several drones over the past few hours. Among the intercepted targets was at least one additional aircraft that was reportedly heading toward the same area.

According to a statement posted on X, the consultation aims to coordinate efforts and discuss ways to maintain regional security and stability.

The crucial talks are taking place as the wider confrontation between the United States, Israel, and Iran has entered its 19th day. Regional tensions escalated sharply after the United States and Israel launched a joint military operation against Iran on February 28, prompting Tehran to respond with multiple waves of drone and missile attacks.

These retaliatory strikes have reportedly targeted assets belonging to Gulf states, Israel, and the United States, marking one of the most serious security crises the region has faced in years. The escalating violence has also had a major impact on key logistics and transportation hubs. International airports in Dubai and Doha have been forced to shut down repeatedly, causing disruptions that have significantly affected global trade, passenger travel, and the supply of essential medical goods.
