The government of Uttar Pradesh, led by Yogi Adityanath, has announced an additional holiday on March 27 along with March 26 to mark Ram Navami, respecting public sentiment. The decision has been taken in view of the large number of devotees expected in Ayodhya, aiming to ensure their convenience and better management of the festival arrangements.
Respecting public sentiment, the government of Uttar Pradesh, led by Yogi Adityanath, has announced an additional public holiday on March 27, extending the holiday period for Ram Navami to two consecutive days. March 26 had already been declared a holiday for the festival, and with the new decision, March 27 will also be observed as a holiday. The move has been taken in view of the large number of devotees expected to visit temples during the festival, particularly in Ayodhya. Approving the extension, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the government’s commitment to respecting religious sentiments and ensuring convenience for devotees.
With this decision, the state will observe back-to-back holidays on March 26 and 27, allowing people to participate in Ram Navami celebrations with better arrangements and ease.
Meanwhile, special preparations are also underway for the festival. From the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple in Mathura, offerings (prasad) for Lord Rama were sent to Ayodhya on Monday morning. According to Kapil Sharma, the offerings included 11 mann (about 440 kilograms) of coriander panjiri, 1.25 mann (around 50 kilograms) of laddus, along with clothes, fruits, and other devotional items. These were transported to Ayodhya in a decorated vehicle while members of the organization and devotees participated in devotional singing and prayers.
Sharma added that on the occasion of Ram Navami, the offerings will be presented to Lord Rama as part of the ceremonial rituals organized by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra in Ayodhya. The festival of Ram Navami will be celebrated on March 26.
