Pahalgam Terror Attack | PM Modi Holds Meeting with NSA and External Affairs Minister After Jammu & Kashmir Attack, Cuts Short Saudi Arabia Visit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar following the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. In response to the incident, he cut short his official visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to India immediately.
In a brutal terrorist attack near Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, 26 people — most of them tourists — lost their lives, and several others were injured. The peaceful meadows of Baisaran Valley, one of Kashmir’s most picturesque and remote trekking destinations often referred to as “Mini Switzerland of India,” were shattered by the assault.

The remote terrain made immediate rescue operations extremely difficult, but helicopters were deployed for air evacuation. Brave local residents also stepped in to help, using ponies to carry the injured down steep trails to safety.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in response to the deadly attack, cut short his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to India on Tuesday night. Upon arrival on Wednesday morning, he held a high-level meeting at the airport with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri was also present at the meeting.
According to officials, the attack, which occurred on Tuesday in the high-altitude region of South Kashmir’s popular tourist destination Pahalgam, claimed the lives of 26 people, including two foreign nationals—one from the United Arab Emirates and one from Nepal.
Home Minister Amit Shah also immediately traveled to Jammu & Kashmir to assess the security situation on the ground.
