Terror Attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir: Tourists Injured, Security Forces Launch Search Operation
On Tuesday 22nd April 2025, at least seven tourists were injured in a terrorist shooting at a resort in Pahalgam, located in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. A senior official confirmed that the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police rushed to the Baisaran area of the popular tourist town after gunfire was heard. A search operation is currently underway. As of now, there has been no report of an exchange of fire between the terrorists and security forces. Further details are awaited.
A woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, said, “My husband was shot in the head, and seven others have been injured.” She appealed for immediate help in transporting the injured to the hospital.
BJP leader Ravinder Raina condemned the incident, stating, “Cowardly Pakistani terrorists have attacked innocent tourists in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam. Unable to confront the Indian Army and J&K Police directly, they targeted unarmed civilians. Some injured individuals have been sent to the hospital. The area has been cordoned off, and the forces are actively searching for the perpetrators to ensure justice. These terrorists constantly attempt to destabilize Kashmir, but like before, all their attempts will be foiled.”
Earlier, on April 14, security forces discovered a highly sophisticated and well-planned terrorist hideout in the Chhatru forest area of Kishtwar district after nearly 25 days of counterterrorism operations. The hideout, believed to be used by terrorists affiliated with Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), was fully equipped for long-term survival and communication.
Officials revealed that the terrorists had set up camp deep in the Chhatru forests with survival gear, religious texts including the Quran, and food supplies sufficient for 10–15 days. Notably, the hideout included an operational Wi-Fi setup, solar panels, GPS devices, and even a concealed underground escape route — highlighting a highly coordinated and strategic plan for prolonged concealment.
