The Luxembourg engagement followed a series of high-level meetings Jaishankar held in France as part of his ongoing European tour.

Earlier, on Monday in Paris, Jaishankar met Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA). Their talks covered major global energy challenges, including developments in the oil market and the role of nuclear power. Sharing his thoughts on X, Jaishankar said he was pleased to meet Birol and appreciated his insights into the global energy landscape, as well as his support for India’s growth and development goals.

During his time in Paris, Jaishankar also interacted with participants of the French-Indian Young Talents Programme, organised by the Franco-Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Reflecting on the exchange, he noted that the discussion revolved around rapid global changes and the growing importance of India–France cooperation in navigating them.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Jaishankar’s France visit includes meetings with senior French leaders and detailed discussions with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot. These engagements are part of a six-day official visit to France and Luxembourg aimed at strengthening bilateral and regional partnerships.

In Luxembourg, Jaishankar’s agenda is centered on boosting collaboration in multiple sectors. He is also scheduled to meet members of the Indian community during the visit.

Fatih Birol, in his own social media post, described his meeting with Jaishankar in Paris as “warm and productive.” He said their conversation covered a range of global energy issues, including oil markets, nuclear energy, and critical minerals, and also highlighted India’s strong commitment to becoming a full member of the International Energy Agency.
