I have never seen an American president like this before… Jaishankar exposed the flaws in Trump’s foreign policy

Jaishankar made it clear that in trade talks with the United States, the interests of India’s farmers and small producers come first. He emphasized that India will never compromise on its red lines—whether it concerns protecting farmers’ interests or safeguarding the country’s strategic autonomy.

Tensions over trade continue between India and the United States, with several rounds of talks already held. However, India has made it clear that it will not allow the U.S. to dictate terms, which is why no concrete outcome has emerged from the discussions so far. On this matter, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reiterated that the interests of India’s farmers and small producers remain the top priority in trade negotiations with the U.S. He stressed that India will never compromise on its red lines—whether it involves safeguarding farmers’ interests or protecting the nation’s strategic autonomy. He added that negotiations are ongoing, but India’s boundaries are firmly drawn.

Calling Donald Trump’s foreign policy “unprecedented,” Jaishankar remarked that the world had never seen an American president conduct foreign policy so openly and publicly as the current one. Speaking at a media event in Delhi, he noted that this represents a fundamental shift, not just for India but globally. He said President Trump’s approach to engaging with the world—even with his own country—was very different from traditional, conservative practices.

Jaishankar also dismissed Trump’s repeated claims of U.S. mediation in the May four-day India-Pakistan conflict, asserting that no such role was played by Washington. He emphasized that since the 1970s, for more than fifty years, there has been a national consensus in India against accepting mediation in its relations with Pakistan.

On the issue of the U.S. imposing a 50 percent tariff on Indian goods, Jaishankar reiterated that in any trade negotiation, the interests of domestic farmers come first. “When it comes to trade, when it comes to protecting farmers’ interests, when it comes to our strategic autonomy, and when it comes to rejecting mediation, this government’s position is absolutely clear,” he said.
