Major Political Move in Tamil Nadu: BJP Issues Charge Sheet Against DMK Over Corruption Claims

Ahead of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election, Union Minister Piyush Goyal has released a “charge sheet” against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government. The document accuses the administration led by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin of promoting dynastic politics, engaging in widespread corruption, and damaging the reputation of Tamil Nadu.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who is also in charge of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election, along with Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran, released a “charge sheet” against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government ahead of the elections. BJP leaders including Tamilisai Soundararajan, K. Annamalai, and other party members were also present at the event. Goyal said the upcoming election would mark a decisive turning point in the history of Tamil Nadu, claiming it would expose what he described as the “corrupt and ineffective” alliance of the DMK, Indian National Congress, and their partners.

Goyal alleged that the state government is being run by a single family, referring to Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, and MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi. He accused members of the family of being involved in corruption and claimed that their governance has harmed Tamil Nadu’s reputation both nationally and internationally. At the same time, he emphasized pride in Tamil culture, language, and heritage, saying the state has immense potential for inclusive development benefiting all sections of society.

According to Goyal, under the leadership of Edappadi K. Palaniswami and with the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) aims to restore what he described as “Tamil pride,” along with good governance, cultural values, and economic progress in the state.

The BJP leader said he was speaking on behalf of what he called the collective pain of eight crore people of Tamil Nadu. He claimed that every point in the charge sheet released against the government led by M.K. Stalin and Udhayanidhi Stalin was based on facts that the DMK and Congress could not deny. He further alleged that the current government had failed various sections of society, including women, youth, farmers, and marginalized communities.

Expressing confidence in an NDA victory, Goyal also invoked the legacy of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, popularly known as “Amma.” He said the NDA alliance had launched a campaign to defeat what he described as a corrupt DMK government and promised to bring back a style of governance similar to Jayalalithaa’s tenure. Goyal accused the DMK–Congress alliance of corruption, poor law and order, and neglect of farmers, fishermen, youth, and women.

He concluded by saying that people of Tamil Nadu were eager for change and for the return of good governance. According to him, the election would determine the future direction of the state, and the NDA alliance led by Edappadi K. Palaniswami would work together to bring what he described as effective governance back to Tamil Nadu.
