PM Modi Launches Vibrant Gujarat Regional Summit, Blending Development with Heritage
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Summit for the Kutch and Saurashtra regions, marking his first visit to Gujarat in 2026. Describing the visit as guided by the vision of “development with heritage,” the Prime Minister said it was a privilege to move forward with development projects in Rajkot after offering prayers at the Somnath Temple.
Vibrant Gujarat: More Than Just a Conference
Speaking at the event, PM Modi emphasized that Vibrant Gujarat is not merely a business meeting but a reflection of India’s transformation in the 21st century. Over the past two decades, the summit has completed ten editions and has set global benchmarks in attracting investment. He explained that the regional format has been introduced to highlight the untapped potential of different parts of Gujarat and bring their strengths to the global stage.
India’s Growing Economic Strength
During his address, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s rapid economic progress, stating that the country is firmly on track to become the world’s third-largest economy. He noted with pride that India leads globally in milk production and generic medicines, while also manufacturing the highest number of vaccines worldwide. Inflation remains under control, he added, and the agriculture sector continues to achieve new milestones.
Trade Expo and Reverse Buyer-Seller Meetings
Ahead of the summit, PM Modi inaugurated a large-scale trade exhibition at Marwadi University in Rajkot. Buyers from over 16 countries, including the US and Europe, are participating, with more than 110 international buyers in attendance. Around 1,500 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed.
A key highlight of the event is the “reverse buyer-seller meetings,” where buyers stay at designated locations while sellers approach them to showcase their products. Over 1,800 such meetings have been scheduled. Spread across 26,000 square meters, the exhibition features major corporate players such as Adani Green, Essar, Torrent Power, and Nayara Energy.
