Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on Thursday, urged the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to take responsibility for Pakistan’s nuclear weapons, citing concerns about their safety in the hands of a “reckless and rogue” nation. This statement comes in the wake of the recent military conflict between India and Pakistan, which was one of the most intense in nearly three decades, and the eventual cessation of hostilities.
Rajnath Singh Urges IAEA to Take Control of Pakistan’s Nuclear Arsenal
Speaking on the matter, Singh raised the question to the world: “Are nuclear weapons safe in the hands of a country as irresponsible and malicious as Pakistan?” He emphasized that India’s resolute stance against terrorism was a testament to the nation’s unyielding commitment, even in the face of Pakistan’s nuclear blackmail attempts. Singh pointed out how Pakistan has repeatedly made nuclear threats against India in an irresponsible manner. He further called for Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal to be placed under the oversight of the IAEA to ensure global security.
Singh highlighted India’s strong commitment to defending its borders and the nation’s unwavering resolve to protect its sovereignty. He lauded the relentless dedication of the Indian armed forces, stating that their tireless efforts in safeguarding the homeland were a guiding light for the entire nation. He expressed his eagerness to meet with soldiers to draw inspiration from their courage and energy.
Speaking about the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Singh noted that the attackers specifically targeted innocent civilians based on their religion. He contrasted this with India’s response, saying, “While the terrorists killed innocents based on religion, we retaliated by targeting the terrorists based on their actions.” He further added that the terrorists’ actions were in line with Pakistan’s mindset, while India’s response was rooted in its values of justice and Dharma.
Singh also acknowledged the anger that the entire nation felt following the Pahalgam attack. He commended the forces for channeling their anger constructively, showing remarkable bravery and wisdom in avenging the attack. He expressed his pride in the way the Indian forces took swift and strategic action, demonstrating their commitment to national security.
