China Urges End to US–Israel Strikes on Iran, Warns Against Escalation
China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi has condemned the joint U.S.–Israeli military campaign against Iran, stating that the conflict “should never have happened.” Citing a report by Al Jazeera, Wang called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a swift return to diplomatic dialogue.
Speaking at a press conference in Beijing, Wang emphasized that the use of military force will never resolve the deep-seated crisis in the region. He warned that such actions weaken the established international order and stressed that “a strong fist does not equal a strong argument.” He added, “The world cannot revert to the law of the jungle.”
Al Jazeera further reported that Wang expressed China’s strong opposition to any attempts to destabilize the Iranian government. He noted that there is no popular support for regime change in Iran and cautioned that efforts to pursue such objectives would only heighten regional tensions.
Beijing’s call for restraint comes amid reports that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced targeted strikes by the Israeli Air Force (IAF) on multiple Iranian military sites in Tehran. According to military accounts, several fuel storage facilities linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were hit in the attacks.
